James Read, John Langran and Paul Clarke are the Lib Dem candidates for Portswood. They are the best choice to be your next local councillors.
James has lived in Southampton for over 20 years, and now lives in St Denys. He is actively campaigning for better road and pavement repairs, play areas, and public toilets. James is fighting against Labour’s neglect of Portswood and is passionate about environmental issues, the economy and, as a former auxiliary nurse, the NHS.
John Langran has lived in our city for over 35 years and Portswood. He has held senior roles in both the private and public sectors, and his voluntary work has given him a good insight into the many challenges that face Southampton’s residents. I will use my knowledge and experience to support Portswood residents, through casework and lobbying the Council.
Paul Clarke was born in Southampton, went to Portswood Primary School and studied at the university. He now works locally as a maths tutor. Paul wants to make Southampton a better place to live by introducing joined up cycling infrastructure, repairing roads and pavements, preventing and reducing homelessness, and investing in renewable energy.”
The Liberal Democrats have a strong record of success in Portswood. This May use all three votes for the local Lib Dem team fighting hard for you.
Labour have pushed Southampton City Council to the brink of bankruptcy risking our city’s finances. The Lib Dem team are campaigning for financial responsibility to protect services.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to improving our environment. We are calling for more street trees, improvements to local parks, and investment in renewable energy.
The Lib Dems have successfully called for investment in the Sports Centre. Now we are pushing the council to invest in more facilities across Southampton - not just the city centre.
