Working hard for Southampton

Liberal Democrats at Southampton Civic Centre

Welcome to Southampton Liberal Democrats. We are a vibrant and dedicated community striving to create a fairer, greener, and more prosperous Southampton for everyone.

Meet Southampton's General Elections candidates

Geoff Cooper – Romsey and Southampton North

Geoff is a Councillor for North Baddesley. He’s a passionate campaigner and has a bold vision for the future. Geoff believes in a fair deal for everyone:

  • Fair voting that represents all our views.
  • Fair taxes that spread the burden more equally.
  • Fair opportunities in life that level the playfield for everyone.
  • A fair day’s pay of a fair day’s work.
  • Fair investment in our public services and the future of this great country.

Thomas Gravatt – Southampton Test

Thomas has worked hard over the past decade to call for improvements across Southampton. He was elected in 2024 as a Councillor for Swaythling, overturning a massive Labour majority. Thomas is campaigning to improve road safety in our area and to secure investment in local facilities. If elected, he will work to secure more funding for our NHS, fight against climate change, and improve Southampton for the better.

James Batho – Southampton Itchen

James is a Councillor in Winchester, and currently Chair of the city’s Economy and Housing Policy committee. He is campaigning on giving every child the best start in life by increasing school and college funding per pupil above the rate of inflation every year, improving the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and extending pre-school funding to enable all parents to take on regular employment.

A Fair Deal for Southampton

Better access to GP and dental services

Everyone should be able to rely on quick access to high-quality local health services when they need them. The Liberal Democrats will work to make it easier to get a doctor and dentist appointment - and will fix the broken social care system.

Protect our local environment

The Lib Dems will restore the UK’s natural environment and fight against climate change. We will introduce real measures to end the sewage dumping scandal, cut carbon emissions with renewable energy and plant 60 million trees each year.

A strong local voice for Southampton

We need to fix our broken system. The Liberal Democrats will introduce proportional representation so that every vote matters. We will crack down on corruption in Parliament, give more power to local areas, and make sure that politics serves the people.

On Thursday 4th July back the Liberal Democrats for a better Southampton. Vote for real change and a brighter future for Southampton and the United Kingdom.

Who are we

The Liberal Democrats are demanding better for Southampton. Our campaigners and councillors work hard to improve our area and stand up for local people.

The Lib Dem team has successfully campaigned for 20mph limits in residential areas, we have listened to residents' concerns about speeding, potholes and public transport and demanded action from the Council.

A Liberal Democrat Council in Southampton would work to secure funding for our local communities, improve our local parks, protect our environment, and introduce trams and a park and ride to ease congestion. The Liberal Democrats are the best choice for our city but we need your help. We can win against the Conservatives and Labour with well organised campaigns and the help of local people.

If you can help the Liberal Democrats deliver a better future for Southampton and our country then sign up to our mailing list below, get in touch, or come along to one of our events!
