Cllr Richard Blackman, Sarah Wood and Sam Chapman are the Lib Dem candidates for Bassett. They are the best choice to be your next councillors.
Richard works at the University and was elected as one of your councillors last May. He has a strong record of action in Bassett and has worked hard to help residents with their issues and concerns. Richard is fighting to reduce inequality in the city and is pressing the council to improve its environmental policies.
Sarah has lived in Bassett for over 30 years and has always worked hard to improve our community. Her three children all went to Hollybrook School. Sarah is a Chartered Civil Engineer specialising in bridges. She is committed to improving roads and pavements across Bassett and enhancing our local green spaces.
Sam Chapman has lived in Bassett most of his life and now lives here with his wife Kathryn and their two children. Sam works for the public sector and is passionate about investing in the Sports Centre, improving public transport, and making Southampton a destination city. He is also involved with the local Scouts.
This May use all three votes for the local Lib Dem team fighting hard for you. Only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives here in Bassett.
Hi, I'm Richard, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Bassett.
I live and work in Southampton, a city I have also had a close association with all my life. I currently work at the University and bring 20 years of experience in the voluntary sector having worked in research, and for European, national, and local environmental non-governmental organisations. I am passionate about climate change, the environment and economic policy.
I am also a keen believer in personal development and lifelong learning, which was reflected in my active membership of Hamwic Speakers, the Southampton branch of Toastmasters International.
The Liberal Democrats have a reputation very running local councils efficiently and delivering great services for the very best value for taxpayers, I am hoping to be elected next May to start this work in Southampton.
You can support my campaign by signing up for email updates and contacting me to let me know how we can make Bassett Better Together.
Sarah has lived in Bassett since 1991 and has three children. Now her children are older Sarah would like to give back to the community that she raised her family in for the last 30 years. Sarah is a Chartered Engineer working on the sustainable development of new bridges. Sarah wants to use her experience in transportation, and her deep knowledge of Bassett, to improve our area and help local people.
Hi, I'm Sam. I was educated in local schools and at Southampton University and currently work as a healthcare manager.
Both nationally and locally our politics is broken. Residents in Bassett have been let down by the council. Residents finally want to see some local investment to catch up with the rest of our thriving city.
I want to see public transport provide a real alternative to parking on our resident's streets, proper management of weekend traffic to the Sports Centre, and investment bought in to improve shopping facilities in Lordshill.
As someone that has always lived in Southampton, should I be elected I will fight hard on behalf of the residents to deliver real change.
Let us know if you're backing the Liberal Democrats in the 2023 local elections.
The Lib Dem team are campaigning against irresponsible Conservative government cuts and financial incompetence. They are fighting for better access to GPs and more police.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to improving our environment. We are calling for more street trees, improvements to local parks, and investment in renewable energy.
The Lib Dems have successfully called for investment in the Sports Centre. Now we are pushing the council to get a move on as well as calling for improvements to facilities across the city.
