Greens and Liberal Democrats come together for the planet, for a fairer & more just Southampton.
For too long, the voices of Green and Liberal voters have been excluded from the decisions of the City of Southampton. Whilst the two parties remain distinct with their own policies, we are united in the need for urgent action on the environment and climate change, the need for social justice and for a more diverse set of decision makers.
To ensure our voices are heard, our parties have agreed a local agreement to stand down in a number of seats in the May city council elections.
The two parties have agreed to stand down in the following wards:
- Liberal Democrats: Portswood, Millbrook and Bitterne Park
- Green Party: Bassett, Swaythling and Shirley
On behalf of our two parties, we would ask voters to consider backing our partner party's candidates in these wards. Both parties are supporting excellent and hardworking candidates who could give a lot to Southampton if elected as Councillors.
Signed by Katherine Barbour (Southampton Green Party) and Sam Chapman (Southampton Liberal Democrats)
