SANDRA WELCOMES PLANS FOR SPECIALIST LEARNING CENTRES

4.30.00pm GMT Wed 27th Jan 2010

Nursery school teacher and child.

Commenting today on the news that five specialist centres for pupils with special needs are to be created in Southampton, MP for Bassett and Swaythling Sandra Gidley said:

"It's great news that Southampton schools will receive extra funding to help children with specialist learning requirements and that Cantell Maths and Computing College is being adapted and improved to cope with a wider range of learning difficulties.

"But this is only a step in the right direction. Liberal Democrat proposals encourage co-location of all special schools alongside mainstream schools so that no child has to travel far and wide for a good education."
