In my view - Lib Dems Put City First

Tue 26th Feb 2008

Since taking minority control of the Council the Conservatives' record has been alarming:

The Annual Budget meeting of the Council - the Liberal Democrat perspective

Fri 22nd Feb 2008

The balance of numbers of the three political groups on Southampton Council is such that it needs the support of more than one Group to set the budget. The Liberal Democrats had discussions in the run-up to budget day with both the Conservatives and Labour.

Lib Dems propose 'Square Deal' budget

Sun 3rd Feb 2008

Southampton City Council Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr Adrian Vinson, says: "The Liberal Democrats offer a Square Deal Budget. No gimmicks. No election stunts. No cons. Just a straight, value-for- money, package protecting core services which benefit everyone, young as well as older, but especially the least-well-off and most vulnerable."

The Tory Honeymoon is over

Wed 29th Aug 2007

In Southampton, as nationally, the Tory bubble has burst. This is after they had a decidedly shaky start in May, with their Leader so unprepared that he was unable to announce his Cabinet at the Annual Council.

Caring for Mansbridge

Wed 22nd Aug 2007

Since the transit site issue I have been accused of not caring about the people of Mansbridge. Let me tell you a little about me and my work as a councillor and then you can judge.

Swaythling Councillors stand firm in supporting the people

Tue 21st Aug 2007

"As ward councillors for Swaythling we are both proud of the work we have done for the people of Swaythling over many years. We have both been very involved in local residents groups, worked to get improved facilities such as the Mansbridge play ground, helped residents with problems like helping the local elderly to settle in new accommodation when work was being done on their homes," commented Dave Beckett and Ann Milton their work in the community.

Gypsy transit site will be at Monks Brook

Tue 31st Jul 2007

Now it is agreed that Southampton's Gypsy transit site will be at Monks Brook it is time for me to take stock. As Cabinet Member responsible, did I do right? Several questions need answering.

City on Hold

Tue 31st Jul 2007

Liberal Democrat Leader Councillor Adrian Vinson has expressed fears about the City being kept on hold until the new Conservative Administration get to grips with what is going on in the city and the Council.

"Great" move new Tory Cabinet!

Wed 4th Jul 2007

"At a stroke you have snubbed our two universities, our colleges, and our major employers, not to mention the schools themselves. By appointing an out-of-town 'we are friends with important people in London' organisation to run our two new secondary schools the Tories have said they trust these people more than their fellow citizens and partner organisations in the city," commented Bassett Councillor Liz Mizon on the school decision.
